How to make a white russian drink
The White Russian drink is a cocktail that is made by combining a coffee liqueur with vodka and cream. This drink is very simple to make and is very creamy in its texture owing to its blend of ingredients. It goes into making a great after dinner drink. The White Russian has many cousins. If you skip the cream while making a White Russian you will end up with a Black Russian. Add some amaretto to it and you will get a Roasted Toasted Almond drink. And if you give your White Russian a good shake right at the end, you will end up with a Dirty Bird.
Much like the chicken and the egg, it is not clear which drink came first; The Black Russian or the White Russian. It is also interesting to note that neither of the two drinks is of Russian origin. These drinks have been named thus because of the use of vodka as the primary alcohol. And since vodka is of Russian origin, the drinks have been named thus.
There are many ways of preparing a White Russian. These recipes differ depending on the styles of different bartenders and mixologists. The adjustments in the levels of coffee liqueur and vodka make one White Russian different from the other. Another very common thing while making a White Russian is by shaking the cream and making it thick and then mixing it with the drink. While this drink can be made with any coffee liqueur, it is Kahlua which is most commonly used to make it. This is primarily so because Kahlua is one of the most popular and fast moving coffee liqueurs and has hence become associated with the White Russian.
One of the ways to make a White Russian is by taking two ounces of vodka, one ounce of any coffee liqueur, preferably Kahlua and some light cream. You will need to pour out the vodka and Kahlua into an old fashioned glass that has been loaded with ice. Top it up with some light cream and then serve.
There is another variation of the White Russian. For this you need to take one jigger of vodka, one ounce of white crème de cacao and one ounce of white cream. Pour all these ingredients into an old fashioned glass that has ice in it and serve.

When you are making a White Russian drink you can easily make some spin offs and get a wider cocktail range. If you use cream made out of goat’s milk instead of cow’s milk, you get a White Canadian. Use Bailey’s Irish cream instead of the Kahlua and you will get a Blind Russian. Use raspberry flavored vodka instead of the unflavored variety and you will get a Blushing Russian.
